Slippystuff Interview

  • The beginning and the first piece: When did you actually start drawing, and would it be possible for you to share your very first drawing with us – or at least the first piece you remember that truly got you started?

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember – ever since I could hold a pencil or a crayon! Unfortunately I don’t have any copies or photos of my early work. I think my mother has them!

  • Inspiration and themes: Your art covers a very wide range of themes, from Femdom, Maledom, homo- and bisexuality, to transgender and soft erotica. How do you find the inspiration for all this wonderful art?

Often it starts with a single image. I look at a lot of porn photography  video, and art. I collect these into an extensive digital reference library. This is usually where inspiration starts – I will see a pose or expression or situation that inspires me, and I will jump off from there and make it my own. Sometimes I will try to build a story in a single image, sometimes I’m just interested in the graphic quality or composition.

  • Commissions: Do you accept commissions or custom projects from your followers, and if so, how do you approach the process of bringing someone else’s vision to life?

I did commissions early on in my erotic art career (around 2016-2018) but I started to resent that work because it felt like a second job. Erotic art is a release valve for me, an escape into fantasy. I don’t want to diminish that pleasure by trying to satisfy other people’s fantasies. That’s why I stopped doing commissions, and I generally don’t take requests. I do what I want to do, and if I can make some money from that, great! If not, I have a full time job to sustain me and my family.

  • Future plans and formats: Many digital artists dream of collecting their work physically – do you have any plans to publish a book or a printed artbook featuring your illustrations in the future?

I have not pursued this idea, but I’m open to publishing my collected work in a book. I have hundreds of drawings to choose from, and it would be nice to see them printed in high quality!

  • Platforms and censorship: What challenges and advantages do you experience when distributing your art across various platforms and your official website?

Distributing my work online is great for maintaining my privacy and limiting my exposure to fans. Of course there is always the worry that a platform may decide to ban adult content and take away a creator’s income and access to fans. This happened with Tumblr, and it’s a constant concern with PayPal, Patreon, and other providers. I try to diversify my platforms so that losing one won’t take away my audience and earning potential.  I also have a personal web site that I host, and all my images now point back to that instead of to a platform I can’t control.

  • Community and support: How has the direct support from your followers on platforms like Patreon and Subscribestar influenced your artistic freedom and your choice of subjects?

The support really hasn’t influenced my choice of subjects, which is great!  It has allowed me to focus on what interests me, on my own terms. Knowing I have subscribers who are giving me their hard-earned money each month gives me just enough pressure to keep creating, but doesn’t steer my work in any particular direction. The extra money is nice, but it hasn’t been enough to change my quality of life. I’ve taken a slow-growth approach.  I would rather have an audience that follows me for what I authentically like to do, rather than try to do work that I hope will be popular.

  • Inspiration and evolution: You have been active on platforms like DeviantArt and others for many years. How would you describe your own stylistic evolution from your early work to what you create today?

I’ve actually not been on DeviantArt; it’s mostly been Twitter, Bluesky, a little Reddit, and Tumblr (back when they accepted porn). Stylistically I’ve prided myself on working in a lot of different styles, but overall I’ve definitely seen an improvement in my draftsmanship and anatomy construction. I really enjoy stylizing and exaggerating my characters – I generally try not to go too photorealistic. I still struggle with faces, hair, and color in general. Luckily digital art makes it possible for me to keep iterating and experimenting until I find something I like. Occasionally I will redraw an old piece that I feel I could do better now.

  • Reactions to the art: What kind of reactions do you generally receive for your art? Do you notice a big difference between the feedback from your regular followers versus people seeing your work for the very first time?

I don’t get a lot of direct feedback. At least not as much as I want!  A few nice comments here and there. Sometimes I feel like I’m throwing my work into the void, though. I never know which piece will get a big response. Sometimes I will put out something I’m really proud of, and it seems to be ignored. It can be very lonely, creatively. I would really enjoy being a part of a community of NSFW artists who share their techniques and feedback. I was in a discord server like this from about 2020 – 2024 and it was a fantastic resource for growth, but ultimately it died and I have not found a replacement.

  • Open floor: Are there any other details, projects, or thoughts you would like to share with us before we finish? If there is anything you feel we have missed, you are more than welcome to phrase your own question and answer it.

I have done a bit of animation, and I’m always pleased with the results, but I find the process so tedious and time consuming that it’s often not worth it. I’ve also toyed with the idea of doing a comic – even just a single page – but I struggle to reproduce faces consistently, and again, too much work!
